Square Enix selling Zero's Luminary Attire feels like a cash grab. It's basically the old Orthodox Fending set from Heavensward, released over 11 years ago, with minimal updates. The Tigerskin Fending set already uses the same model and can be dyed.

So we're essentially paying real money for an 11-year-old, low-res gear model with slightly touched-up textures and the new dual-dye system. That's not a new outfit. It's an old set with better dye options put on the Mog Station.



Since I know Smart* people are gonna say "just don't buy it":

The issue is bigger than whether one person buys the outfit. Selling an old gear model with the new dual-dye system sets a bad precedent. It shows Square Enix that they can take existing content, lock improvements from newer systems behind the Mog Station, and charge extra for them.

If this is accepted, what's stopping future graphical updates, dye improvements, or other new systems from being used to resell old content for cash? "Just don't buy it" doesn't address the direction this kind of monetization could lead to.
