I just wanted to make a post for all the new players coming in, there are definitely some that will seek out a community, or have questions.

First of all, this game is basically a theme park. No matter what you enjoy doing, there IS something for you.

Do you enjoy story focused content? Do you enjoy raiding? Do you enjoy spending your days away in crafting/gathering/selling on the market? Do you enjoy fishing? Do you enjoy being an helpful member of the community and running a guild to help people? DO you enjoy Roleplaying?

Then there is something for you in this game. 100%.

However keep one important thing in mind. Final Fantasy XIV was designed with the story in mind. It is probably THE biggest MMORPG when it comes to having a massive focus on story. So take your time, don't rush it.

Speaking of rushing, try to avoid doing so. There are a ton of great features to unlock in the game, such as challenge logs or hunting logs. There are also a lot of side stories, often identified with the blue icon on top of the NPC's head.

Speaking of icons.

Blue icon usually means additional content or feature.

Black or 'darker' font in the icon circle, means Main Scenario.

Simple yellow icon means simple side quest.

Now for the classes, contrary to a lot of MMOs, you do not need to make alts, you can freely swap classes once you reach level 10 with a class for the first time. You are never locked into anything. So enjoy experimenting and finding out what works for YOU. Every class is perfectly viable and able to do all the game's content.

Lastly, do not be afraid to reach out both in game or in online communities. Vast majority of people are friendly and WILL 100% go out of their way to help someone, beginner or veteran. People will gladly walk with you and show you the ropes or even give you lifts to unlock areas.

Additionally, it is absolutely okay if you want to take your time and learn content as you do it. No need to watch a fight online before running it. I have NEVER done this since starting playing back in 2013 and it has never been an issue. You will fail things. We all started there. It's okay. You'll push through.

And for the love of Thal. Watch your cutscenes even in mid dungeon if you want to. A good tank/healer will absolutely let you enjoy your experience at your own pace. Don't be afraid to ask to slow down as well if you feel like you cannot keep up as any roles. You can even ask advices. Trust me, we WILL help you with pleasure.

But above all. Enjoy your time with the game. It's a beautiful world of adventures, and full of wonderful adventurers like you.
