Hello everyone,
First of all, I want to make it clear that this is NOT a request to turn Blue Mage into a regular job.
I completely understand why Blue Mage exists as a Limited Job. Its identity revolves around collecting monster spells, experimenting with unusual combinations and embracing mechanics that simply cannot be balanced for standard duties.
I don't think that identity should change.
However, I believe there is another fantasy that many Final Fantasy fans enjoy, and that FFXIV still doesn't represent.
A different fantasy
Many people don't necessarily want Blue Mage itself.
What they want is the feeling of fighting using the power of monsters in normal dungeons, trials and raids.
Instead of trying to adapt Blue Mage, why not create an entirely new Job inspired by another classic Final Fantasy archetype?
Gau (Final Fantasy VI)
Gau is probably the best example.
He isn't a Blue Mage.
He doesn't learn hundreds of enemy spells.
Instead, he channels the instincts and fighting styles of monsters through his Rage ability.
That concept could evolve into something completely original for FFXIV.
The Job Philosophy
Rather than collecting dozens or hundreds of monster skills, the Job would have a fixed and balanced toolkit like every other standard Job.
The fantasy wouldn't come from learning enemy abilities.
It would come from temporarily channeling different monster instincts, changing the style of combat.
Examples could include:
These wouldn't be literal enemy skills copied from monsters.
Instead, they would be original abilities inspired by iconic Final Fantasy creatures.
Visual Identity
One of the strongest parts of the Job could be its visual design.
Instead of summoning monsters, the player would partially channel them.
Examples
The character remains themselves while borrowing the essence of different creatures.
Weapon
Instead of a traditional weapon, the Job could use Claws or something similar
This would immediately distinguish it from Monk while reinforcing its monster-inspired identity.
I'd love to hear what everyone thinks.
Would you enjoy a Job focused on channeling monster instincts rather than collecting monster spells?

The fantasy wouldn't come from learning enemy abilities.
It would come from temporarily channeling different monster instincts, changing the style of combat.
Examples could include:
- A wolf-like stance focused on speed and mobility.
- A coeurl-inspired stance using claws and lightning.
- A behemoth-inspired stance emphasizing heavy attacks.
- A dragon stance focused on burst damage.
- A morbol-inspired stance centered around debuffs and battlefield control.
- A voidsent stance using dark magical attacks.
These wouldn't be literal enemy skills copied from monsters.
Instead, they would be original abilities inspired by iconic Final Fantasy creatures.
Visual Identity
One of the strongest parts of the Job could be its visual design.
Instead of summoning monsters, the player would partially channel them.
Examples
- Spectral claws appearing over the character's arms.
- Ethereal wings during certain attacks.
- Ghostly beast silhouettes briefly appearing behind the player.
- Tail swipes, fangs, horns or dragon breaths manifested as magical projections.
The character remains themselves while borrowing the essence of different creatures.
