I definitely prefer healers, casters, and ranged by far, generally speaking. I generally think the more "fantasy" looking sets look better on girls (like bard or summoner), while the more steampunk ones are best for boys (scholar, gunslinger).
When I used to play I spent waaay too much gil on mogs, so I'm trying to focus more on the "free" options, and pick an option I'll stick with instead of abusing fanta all the time. Generally speaking though my favorite boy is viera or miqo'te, while I've rotated through viera/miqo'te/elezen/lalafell/middie and highlander girls in the past.
